The Space Foundation has taken a significant step in supporting companies within the space industry by launching the Space Path: Space Business Bootcamp on March 22, 2025. The Space Path program offers an all-day virtual experience, providing companies with the opportunity to engage in live sessions and one-on-one discussions with experts. The focus is on creating a strong commercialization framework, identifying market opportunities, and forming strategic partnerships.
Participants in the bootcamp will delve into various aspects of the space economy, including growth strategies within both government and commercial markets. Key areas such as cost structure, revenue streams, and investment will be addressed to help businesses overcome challenges and achieve their objectives.
According to Kelli Kedis Ogborn, Vice President of Space Commerce and Entrepreneurship at the Space Foundation, reducing barriers to entry is crucial for maximizing the potential of the commercial space economy. “This initiative not only strengthens the space industry,” Ogborn states, “but also ensures that space technology provides tangible impacts, leading to sustainable growth.”
The global space economy is on a fast track for growth, projected to reach $772 billion by 2027, driven largely by private and public sector investments. Commercial revenue is expected to constitute 78% of this economy. A McKinsey report, in collaboration with the World Economic Forum, forecasts a tripling of the space economy to $1.8 trillion by 2035, fueled by reduced costs and broader access to space technology.
By participating in programs like Space Path, companies can gain a deeper understanding of the space ecosystem and position themselves to capitalize on emerging opportunities. The program limits participation to 15 registrants to ensure personalized support and enhanced engagement.
