During his appearance on The Pat McAfee Show, Belichick confirmed he had meaningful conversations with UNC’s Chancellor Lee Roberts. He stated, ‘We’ve had a couple of good conversations. We’ll see how it goes,’ indicating the ongoing nature of these discussions.

Belichick highlighted that his program would also prepare players for life after football, stressing the importance of education and life skills. ‘It would be geared toward developing the player, time management, discipline, structure and all that would be life skills regardless of whether they were in the NFL or in business,’ he explained.
With his extensive connections in the NFL, Belichick expressed confidence in paving the way for players who aspire to compete at the professional level, though he acknowledged that ultimate success would depend on individual abilities.
After parting ways with the New England Patriots, Belichick has been exploring opportunities, including interviews with the Atlanta Falcons. His interest in college football seems to have grown during his break from coaching, as he noted the increasing similarities between the college game and the NFL due to recent changes like the transfer portal and NIL agreements.
Belichick remarked on the structural alignment of college programs with the NFL model, highlighting the new dynamics in recruiting and player negotiations. ‘It’s a little different version of the NFL model, much more so than it’s ever been before,’ he commented, pointing towards evolving college football landscapes similar to professional levels.
