In an annual tradition, the Miami Dolphins have recognized their standout players for 2024, applauding contributions that extend beyond the football field to the South Florida community.
Defensive tackle Zach Sieler was bestowed with the Dan Marino Most Valuable Player Award, a prestigious accolade determined by the South Florida media. Sieler, serving as a team captain, led a formidable defense that has been ranked among the NFL’s elite. He has recorded impressive statistics, including 8.5 sacks, 12 tackles for loss, and 17 quarterback hits. Additionally, his on-field prowess was highlighted by an interception and a forced fumble. Uniquely, Sieler is the first defensive tackle since Ndamukong Suh in 2017 to receive this honor.
Meanwhile, Calais Campbell, another defensive tackle, earned the Don Shula Leadership Award. Voted by his teammates, Campbell’s leadership transcended the game. In his inaugural season with the Dolphins, Campbell, a 17-year NFL veteran and respected captain, logged 4.0 sacks and 49 tackles. His achievement of appearing in 250 games marks him as only the fourth defensive lineman in NFL history to reach this milestone.
In a different category, linebacker Jaelan Phillips was awarded the Ed Block Courage Award, acknowledging his tenacity and professionalism. After a season-ending injury in 2023, Phillips’ return to the field was marked by dedication and community service. His involvement in the Dolphins Cancer Challenge exemplified his commitment to both his recovery and the community.
Terron Armstead, an offensive tackle, was recognized with the Nat Moore Community Service Award for his extensive work with the youth in South Florida. Through the Team Armstead Foundation, he organized back-to-school events, financial literacy programs, and holiday celebrations that offered resources and mentorship to numerous children. His efforts underscore the team’s broader mission to positively influence the community.
These awards not only celebrate the athletic achievements of the Miami Dolphins players but also highlight their dedication to enriching the South Florida community. Through leadership, courage, and community service, the players have demonstrated that their impact goes far beyond the confines of the football field.
