Miami Dolphins’ DuBose Returns After Head Injury in Texans Game

Miami Dolphins wide receiver Grant DuBose is set to return to Miami following a head injury sustained during a game against the Houston Texans, confirmed Head Coach Mike McDaniel.

During the second half of Sunday’s game against the Houston Texans, Miami Dolphins wide receiver Grant DuBose was carted off the field due to a head injury. This unfortunate incident occurred when DuBose attempted to catch a pass and was struck in the head by rookie Calen Bullock. Following this helmet-to-helmet collision, his head impacted the turf violently, leading to a “fencing response,” a reaction often linked with traumatic brain injuries. Medical personnel rushed to his aid as he lay motionless, attending to him for over ten minutes. Subsequently, DuBose was placed under medical observation in Houston for several days.

After this unsettling event in Week 15, the Dolphins placed DuBose on injured reserve on Tuesday, a move that mandates his absence for at least four games. Given that there are only three games left in the regular season, combined with the team’s slim playoff prospects, his return to the field this year seems improbable. However, Head Coach Mike McDaniel expressed optimism, stating, “The team is excited to get to see him.”

Bullock received a penalty for unnecessary roughness for the hit on DuBose, who was defenseless at the time. Reflecting on the incident, Bullock mentioned, “I was praying that he would be OK. I wasn’t trying to go out there and hurt nobody.” The Dolphins, showing solidarity, gathered in a prayer circle while emergency responders worked to stabilize DuBose. They secured him with a neck brace and a spine board before transporting him off the field.

This incident adds to DuBose’s challenging season, as he had recently returned from a shoulder injury. As a seventh-round pick from last year, DuBose has faced significant hurdles in his fledgling career. The Dolphins organization, alongside fans and players across the NFL, hold hopes for his swift and complete recovery.

The Miami Dolphins and the entire football community are rallying around Grant DuBose in hopes of his speedy recovery. While his return to play this season remains doubtful, the primary focus remains on his health and well-being.
