The Miami Dolphins have released wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr., concluding his brief stint with the team. Beckham missed the last two practice sessions due to personal reasons, leading Dolphins coach Mike McDaniel to suggest that the decision to part ways was mutual.
“Odell and I have maintained open communication since his arrival,” McDaniel stated. “He faced challenges early on, needing to rehabilitate into the season. We assessed what would be best for both him and the team moving forward, and concluded it was the right time to go in this direction.”
Beckham joined the Dolphins on a one-year contract in May but started the season on the physically unable to perform list following knee surgery. Since making his debut in Week 5 against New England, he recorded only nine receptions for 55 yards over nine games.
Initially signed to provide depth behind Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle, Beckham struggled to find his place in the Dolphins’ offense. The emergence of rookie receiver Malik Washington and increased reliance on tight end Jonnu Smith limited his impact.
A former star with the New York Giants, Beckham has played for four different teams, including three seasons with Cleveland, as well as stints with Baltimore and the Los Angeles Rams, with whom he won a Super Bowl during the 2021-22 season. Last season with the Ravens, he tallied 35 catches for 565 yards and three touchdowns before being released in March.
