Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence and tight end Evan Engram have recently undergone shoulder surgeries, with expectations that both will participate in upcoming offseason activities, according to Coach Doug Pederson.
Lawrence, who experienced an AC sprain in his left shoulder, had corrective surgery on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Engram underwent surgery to repair a torn labrum in his left shoulder on Monday. Coach Pederson confirmed that both procedures were successful, noting the positive outlook for their recovery.
Trevor Lawrence has faced challenges recently, having suffered a concussion during a match against Houston on December 1, which led to his placement on injured reserve by December 4. He cleared concussion protocol prior to his surgery, as reported by Pederson. This surgery is notably not Lawrence’s first; he previously had shoulder surgery in February 2021, which affected his participation in the Jaguars’ rookie minicamp and OTAs.
Evan Engram, who was placed on injured reserve on December 14, is also expected to recover promptly, with both players anticipated to be ready for offseason training activities starting in May. Coach Pederson emphasized that these surgeries are not considered long-term in terms of recovery, suggesting a favorable timeline for both athletes.
The offseason workout program for the Jaguars is slated to commence in April, entering Phase II with organized team activities (OTAs) in May. Given their current recovery progress, both Lawrence and Engram should be actively involved in this program.
As the Jacksonville Jaguars look forward to their offseason activities, the successful surgeries of Trevor Lawrence and Evan Engram mark a positive step towards a full recovery and readiness for the upcoming season.
