The Florida High School Athletic Association playoffs have commenced, marking the end of a 12-week regular season and the beginning of postseason battles for seven teams from the Volusia-Flagler area.
In Class 7A, DeLand, Flagler Palm Coast, Spruce Creek, and University high schools are all vying for advancement. Notably, Flagler Palm Coast and Spruce Creek face off once more, revisiting their October district clash. DeLand is set against Lake Mary, while University will challenge Winter Park at home.
Mainland High School, participating in Class 5A, embarks on a journey to the Panhandle for a contest with Lincoln. In another matchup, New Smyrna Beach, representing Class 4A, travels to Lake Wales for a Region 2 face-off.
A unique feature of this playoff season is Taylor High School’s entry into the Rural Florida Invitational Tournament, where they will compete against Fort Meade. This tournament offers smaller schools a platform to showcase their talents and compete at a high level.
