In a significant development for college football, Wisconsin Badgers quarterback Tyler Van Dyke has entered the NCAA transfer portal, as revealed to ESPN by a trusted source on Monday.
Van Dyke’s journey at Wisconsin was short-lived, having played only three games in his debut season before a knee injury ended his year prematurely. The quarterback’s career at Miami from 2021 to 2023 was more notable, where he impressed with 7,891 passing yards and 55 touchdowns over three years. His decision to use the transfer portal comes just a year after joining the Badgers.
At Wisconsin, Van Dyke was appointed the starting quarterback following a competitive preseason camp, where he edged out sophomore Braden Locke. Van Dyke displayed promise in his initial starts, completing 43 of 68 passes for 422 yards and a touchdown before his injury in the season’s third game against Alabama halted his progress.
Post-injury, Locke took over as the starting quarterback for the final nine games of the season.
