A dramatic incident unfolded Monday night when a stolen vehicle, evading police, crashed into a Miami-Dade Transit bus, resulting in multiple injuries, according to local authorities.
The situation began around 9 p.m. as Miami police attempted to pull over a vehicle reported as stolen. However, the driver chose to flee, prompting a police pursuit. Shortly after, a helicopter unit located the car crashing into a public bus near Northwest 21st Avenue and 71st Street in the Gladeview area.
As emergency teams, including Miami-Dade Fire Rescue, arrived at the scene, they transported two to three individuals to nearby hospitals for treatment. Details about the severity of the injuries remain unclear, and police have yet to provide information about the car’s driver or the bus passengers.
Community members recounted the chaos of the incident. ‘I was inside my house and I felt a loud impact, I was like ‘what happened?’ shared Angel Oduardo in Spanish, a nearby resident. ‘I didn’t see anything but then I went outside and I saw all the police cars,’ he added, highlighting the sound and subsequent police activity that night.
Upon securing the crash site, authorities discovered not only the stolen vehicle but also four rifles, emphasizing the potential dangers involved. As of now, the investigation continues, with police urging anyone with information to come forward.
The Monday night collision underscores the risks associated with high-speed pursuits in urban settings. As Miami police continue their investigation, the community remains on alert, hoping for swift resolutions and increased safety measures.
