A suspect involved in a shooting incident outside a Bradenton sports bar on Black Friday has been apprehended in Georgia after a week-long pursuit by law enforcement.
Ronnie D. Morton III, aged 23, is accused of opening fire during an argument outside a Bradenton sports establishment, striking a 25-year-old man and injuring four bystanders. All victims suffered non-life-threatening injuries and received medical attention before being released from local hospitals.
Following the incident, Morton evaded capture for several days. Law enforcement officials tracked him traveling on an Amtrak train from Florida, which led to his arrest in Savannah, Georgia. Detectives discovered Morton’s whereabouts by monitoring his cell phone, which was active near railroad tracks north of Jacksonville before crossing into Georgia.
The apprehension involved coordination between multiple agencies, including Amtrak Police and the Savannah Police Department, culminating in Morton’s capture at a train station in Savannah.
Morton faces several serious charges, including five counts of aggravated battery with a firearm, felony firearm possession, and armed robbery, stemming from an outstanding warrant in Manatee County. Currently held at the Chatham County Jail, Morton is awaiting extradition to Manatee County.
Authorities are continuing their investigation to identify a second individual involved in the incident who was seen leaving the crime scene with Morton. The unknown accomplice is described as a Black male wearing a black and silver shirt marked with the number 77.
The capture of Ronnie D. Morton III marks a significant development in the Bradenton shooting case. As the investigation continues, focus shifts to identifying and apprehending the second suspect involved in the incident.
