An Amazon delivery driver was violently attacked in Fort Lauderdale, and police are actively searching for the suspect responsible.
The unsettling incident occurred shortly after 7:30 p.m. on Saturday in the 1100 block of Northwest 10th Terrace. The driver, who was in the middle of his delivery route, faced an unexpected challenge when his vehicle was disabled due to a flat tire. It was at this vulnerable moment that an unidentified assailant approached, brandishing a knife and stabbing the driver.
Witnesses reported that the suspect made off with an unspecified personal item belonging to the driver. Authorities are also investigating whether any items were taken from the delivery truck itself. A nearby home’s surveillance footage captured the aftermath, showing the injured driver seeking assistance at a neighbor’s door. The video depicts the driver inspecting his wound before fleeing when no help was forthcoming.
The injured driver managed to reach a nearby convenience store, where he received prompt aid from employees. Asim Roi, the store owner, emphasized the importance of immediate assistance, stating, ‘For us, life is first, save a life first, no matter what.’ He instructed his staff to call emergency services without delay, and fortunately, police and medical responders arrived swiftly to offer care.
Currently hospitalized, the driver is in serious condition but is expected to recover. Meanwhile, the police have yet to locate the perpetrator.
