A serious incident has unfolded in Plantation, where a teacher from Sawgrass Adventist School is facing grave allegations.
Candace Brown, aged 35, has been arrested under severe accusations of engaging in inappropriate activities with a 14-year-old student, according to the Broward Sheriff’s Office (BSO). Her arrest stems from charges of committing lewd and lascivious acts with the student, which reportedly took place over the summer in Deerfield Beach.
The case has garnered attention as Brown turned herself in to authorities on Friday. She is currently facing multiple counts, including two of lewd and lascivious battery, one of lewd and lascivious conduct, and another for transmitting harmful material to a minor through an electronic device.
Frank Runnels, representing the Florida Conference of Seventh-day Adventists as Vice President for Education and Superintendent of Schools, stated, “We just received a report of inappropriate and illegal conduct by one of our teachers with regard to a student, and we are taking it very seriously. Because our commitment to student welfare and safety is our foremost priority, we are cooperating fully with law enforcement and have promptly removed the teacher from our campus and her position. As this is an ongoing investigation, more details will be shared as appropriate.”
