BALTIMORE — A 15-year-old male has been taken into custody and charged in connection with the violent carjacking and assault of an elderly woman in Northwest Baltimore on Monday night, according to the Baltimore Police Department.

Officers responded to the 3200 block of West Strathmore Avenue at approximately 8:25 p.m. on December 22 following reports of a robbery. Authorities state that a woman in her 60s was exiting her vehicle when she was approached by two male suspects. The police report indicates that the suspects assaulted the victim and demanded her keys before fleeing the scene in her automobile.

Following the broadcast of the vehicle’s description to citywide units, the department’s “Foxtrot” aviation unit located the stolen car traveling in the 1600 block of McHenry Street around 10:00 p.m. Patrol units were alerted to the location. Upon reaching the 1500 block of McHenry Street, investigators say both occupants abandoned the vehicle and attempted to flee on foot.

Law enforcement officers apprehended the driver, identified as a 15-year-old boy, following a brief pursuit. The second suspect remains at large. Police records indicate the teenager has two prior arrests for robbery. He is currently being held at the Juvenile Justice Center, facing multiple charges including robbery and auto theft.

Investigative Outlook

The investigation remains active as detectives work to identify and locate the second individual involved in the incident. While the juvenile suspect has been processed, authorities have not released further details regarding the specific condition of the victim beyond the initial report of assault.
