On the evening of the incident, 16-year-old Kaia Barret was among the group of girls riding a golf cart along Saw Palmetto Parkway. At approximately 9:20 p.m., a silver car approached them, and a male teenager allegedly threw a smoking box into their cart. Realizing the immediate danger, the girls quickly evacuated the vehicle before it veered into nearby trees.
The aftermath of this unexpected attack left two of the girls hospitalized. Family photos depict the extent of their injuries, showing bruises and burns across their bodies. Particularly concerning is the driver, who not only sustained a broken foot but also experienced a resurgence of epileptic seizures due to the trauma. “She’s been to the hospital twice for seizures since the incident. It’s overwhelming,” shared Ambree, Kaia’s mother.
Kaia’s injuries are notably severe. She suffered a skull fracture and a brain bleed, compounding her already critical condition due to cystic fibrosis. Her inability to take medication since the attack has heightened worries about her lung health. “I’m incredibly angry and concerned for her well-being,” Ambree expressed.
