MINERAL COUNTY, Nev. – The Nevada State Police (NSP) have released preliminary details regarding a fatal two-vehicle collision that occurred on U.S. 95 south of Hawthorne, resulting in the death of a Texas resident.

According to a release from the NSP, the incident took place on Friday, February 20, at approximately 8:20 p.m., roughly 44 miles south of Hawthorne. Investigators determined that a white Chevrolet 1500 pickup truck, traveling northbound, failed to maintain its lane. The pickup reportedly crossed the centerline and collided with a southbound red Freightliner commercial motor vehicle and its trailer.

The driver of the Chevrolet, identified as 52-year-old David Clardy of Burton, Texas, was pronounced dead at the scene by emergency responders. The report did not specify the condition of the Freightliner driver. The Nevada Highway Patrol’s Major Incident Reconstruction Team is currently conducting a technical analysis of the crash site.
