Third Person Dies After Tragic Christmas Crash in Hillsborough County

A devastating multi-vehicle collision on Christmas night led to the death of an 87-year-old man, marking the third fatality from this tragic incident.

The Florida Highway Patrol reported that the crash occurred around 6 p.m. on U.S. 301 at Ambelside Blvd. in Riverview. The 87-year-old, driving a Hyundai Sonata, mistakenly turned into the path of a Kia Optima. The collision was severe, propelling the Sonata into the path of a GMC Acadia, resulting in another impact.

Immediate casualties included an 82-year-old woman and a 60-year-old woman, both passengers in the Sonata, who unfortunately lost their lives at the scene. The driver, gravely injured, succumbed to his injuries in the hospital two days later, adding to the fatalities from this horrific event.

Two individuals from the crash sustained minor injuries. However, the details of their condition have not been specified by authorities.
