The incident occurred on September 5 at Kim Hung Jewelry in East San Jose, where the store’s elderly owner was injured.
Additional Arrests Made
In a statement, authorities detailed the recent apprehensions. Giovann Caliz, 32, was extradited to San Jose on October 28. On November 5, Jonathan Caruso, 25, was arrested with assistance from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF). The following day, Dennis Campos-Torres, 22, and Fati Johnson, 32, were arrested in Oakland, while Keimaree Dews, 18, was taken into custody in San Francisco.
Details of the Robbery
According to police reports, at least 10 individuals forced entry into the jewelry store by ramming a vehicle through the front door. During the robbery, a firearm was brandished, and the store’s 88-year-old owner was assaulted. He suffered a stroke as a result of the attack and was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries before being released to recover at home. The suspects stole merchandise valued at thousands of dollars.
Initial Apprehensions
These arrests follow an earlier operation that led to the capture of eight other suspects. The individuals previously taken into custody were identified as Angel Herrera, 21; Toddisha Mayfield, 31; Zakhari Blue-Gordon, 23; Tom Donegan, 19; Jacques Samuel, 18; Cisco Luti, 18; Amari Green, 21; and Julian Gacutan, 19. All suspects have been booked into the Santa Clara County Jail on robbery charges.
The investigation remains ongoing as multiple agencies collaborate on the case. It is important to note that all individuals arrested are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
