In the early hours of Christmas morning, a shooting outside an IHOP in Miramar resulted in two fatalities and one injury, according to newly released 911 calls.
At approximately 1:22 a.m. on Wednesday, law enforcement officials responded to the scene outside the restaurant located in the 11300 block of Miramar Parkway. There, officers discovered three individuals with gunshot injuries. Two women succumbed to their injuries at Memorial Regional Hospital, while the condition of the third victim remains undisclosed.
The distressing incident was characterized by chaos, as conveyed through the 911 recordings. Emergency dispatchers instructed callers to remain indoors and avoid windows for their safety. One caller shared, ‘There’s blood on our floor. Somebody got shot.’ Another could be heard exclaiming, ‘I can’t see nothing, I’m ducking down. I don’t wanna look up and get shot.’ Yet another stated, ‘Someone’s dead over here! They just… left not five minutes ago,’ followed by a hurried, ‘No! … Leave him inside! He’s dead.’
Janice McIntosh, a spokesperson for the Miramar Police, noted that the shooting was targeted, implying the victims had known each other, and that this was not a random act of violence. This is underscored by footage of officers speaking with individuals inside the restaurant as forensic teams marked evidence outside near a gray SUV. The identity of those involved has yet to be disclosed, with the hospitalized individual under police guard.
As investigations continue, authorities have not confirmed whether any of the involved parties were the shooter. The tragic event elicited a response from IHOP, emphasizing their priority on safety and their cooperation with local authorities. ‘We are deeply saddened by the tragic event that took place… Our hearts go out to the families and individuals affected.’
This incident remains under active investigation by Miramar Police. Anyone with additional information is urged to contact the authorities as they work to unravel the circumstances surrounding this tragic event.
