Two individuals were arrested in Mount Clemens, Michigan, after authorities raided a home near an elementary school, uncovering an alleged homemade drug manufacturing and trafficking operation. The Macomb County Sheriff’s Enforcement Team executed the raid on Thursday at a residence on Grand Avenue, located near St. Marys Catholic School.
During the search, officers confiscated a significant quantity of illicit substances, including over 1,000 suspected pressed methamphetamine-fentanyl pills, approximately 225 grams of Etizolam, Ketamine, about 1,300 grams of psilocybin mushrooms, and anabolic steroids. A pill press and various pill stamps were also seized.
A 52-year-old man and a 41-year-old woman were taken into custody. According to sheriff’s officials, an investigation revealed the male suspect was allegedly using a false identity to purchase chemicals from overseas to manufacture unregulated substances and sell counterfeit pills in the area.
Authorities reported finding a “fully-functioning, homemade laboratory” that included an autoclave, glass beakers, packaging, and various chemicals. “Conducting illegal drug activity anywhere is unacceptable, but doing so near an elementary school shows a blatant disregard for the safety of our children,” Sheriff Anthony Wickersham stated.
The male suspect faces multiple charges, including operating a lab near specified places—a 20-year felony—in addition to other drug and weapons offenses. His status as a potential fourth-time habitual offender could elevate his sentence to life in prison. The female suspect faces charges for delivery or manufacture of a controlled substance and possession of analogues.
The arrests highlight the serious charges the suspects face in connection with the alleged drug operation. It is important to note that all individuals are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
