Two Arrested in Hernando County Storage Burglaries

Two individuals were apprehended on suspicion of involvement in a series of storage unit burglaries in Hernando County.

In a significant development, law enforcement officials in Hernando County have arrested two suspects linked to multiple storage unit burglaries that occurred between December 21 and December 29, 2024. The suspects, identified as Shawnee Reed, 32, and Brian Beckley, 36, were detained during a traffic stop conducted in Pasco County.

The Hernando County Sheriff’s Office reported that the suspects were captured on surveillance video committing the burglaries. During the investigation, detectives from the Special Investigations Unit tracked the pair driving on Spring Hill Drive. They were subsequently followed to a storage unit facility located off U.S. 41 in Pasco County.

With collaboration from the Florida Highway Patrol, law enforcement executed a traffic stop and arrested the pair shortly after they exited the storage facility. The stolen items reportedly included tools, batteries, and various other items taken from the storage units.

Both Reed and Beckley are facing charges of burglary and grand theft. Moreover, it was revealed that Beckley has outstanding warrants for similar offenses in Kentucky. Currently, they are being held without bond in the Pasco County jail.

The arrests highlight the ongoing efforts by law enforcement to combat theft and enhance community safety in the area.
