A multi-agency operation in Buncombe County, North Carolina, resulted in the arrest of two individuals and the seizure of trafficking quantities of illegal narcotics, according to law enforcement officials. The warrant service operation took place in Black Mountain on November 5 and involved local, state, and federal agencies.

The operation was conducted by the Buncombe County Sheriff’s Office Illegal Gun Reduction and Narcotics Task Force (IGRANT), with assistance from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), the Asheville Police Department, and the Black Mountain Police Department. Authorities initially arrested Nazae Maewether on several outstanding felony warrants.

According to the Buncombe County Sheriff’s Office, Maewether’s arrest led to the seizure of additional narcotics and resulted in further warrants for both him and a second individual, Mahogany Brewer. In total, the operation seized 74.6 grams of fentanyl, 16.6 grams of cocaine, 2.7 grams of marijuana, and $1,044.25 in U.S. currency, along with miscellaneous drug paraphernalia.

Both Maewether and Brewer face multiple charges, including Level III Trafficking in Opium/Heroin (Fentanyl) for transport and possession, Possession with Intent to Manufacture, Sell or Deliver a Schedule I substance, and conspiracy. Brewer faces an additional charge of Maintaining a Vehicle for Sale of a Controlled Substance. It is important to note that all individuals are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
