An armed man was shot by the U.S. Secret Service outside the White House on Sunday morning, following reports of a potentially suicidal individual traveling from Indiana to Washington D.C.

Acoording to CNN, the U.S. Secret Service confirmed that its personnel shot an armed adult male outside the White House early Sunday morning. According to Secret Service Chief of Communications Anthony Guglielmi, the agency was alerted to a ‘suicidal individual’ en route to the nation’s capital from Indiana. This prompted heightened security measures near the White House when an individual matching the given description was spotted.

Upon locating the individual’s parked vehicle, officers approached, leading to an exchange when the individual brandished a firearm. This confrontation resulted in shots being fired by the Secret Service personnel, ultimately bringing the situation under control.
