Jacksonville, FL – Ty’shon Damon’n Ramos, a 26-year-old resident of Jacksonville, has been sentenced to three years and one month in federal prison for the illegal sale of firearms to a convicted felon. The sentencing was handed down by Senior U.S. District Judge Brian J. Davis.
Ramos was arrested after he sold two firearms, including a rifle and a pistol, to a confidential informant for $1,500. The informant was a convicted felon, a status known to Ramos at the time of the sale. Although Ramos had promised that the rifle would include a machinegun conversion device, it did not. However, the rifle did come with a large-capacity magazine.
This case was brought to the attention of law enforcement when Ramos was seen with the original purchaser of multiple firearms, which were subsequently recovered from individuals prohibited from possessing them. Ramos pleaded guilty to the charges on March 26, 2025.
The investigation was spearheaded by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Kelli Swaney. The case is part of Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), a nationwide program that aims to reduce violent crime and gun violence by fostering collaboration between law enforcement and communities.
The Department of Justice relaunched a violent crime reduction strategy for PSN on May 26, 2021, focusing on fostering community trust, supporting violence prevention organizations, setting strategic enforcement priorities, and measuring outcomes to ensure safer neighborhoods.
