Police are actively searching for a person of interest following a deadly shooting at a warehouse facility in New Albany, Ohio, which occurred on Tuesday night.
The incident took place at the KDC/One cosmetics facility on Smith’s Mill Road, known for manufacturing beauty and personal care products. New Albany Police Chief Greg Jones reported during a news briefing that the shooting appeared targeted, and authorities have no reason to suspect an ongoing threat to the community. However, the motive behind the shooting is still under investigation.
Authorities responded to the shooting just before 11 p.m., discovering one individual deceased inside the building. A firearm was recovered at the scene, but further details about the deceased’s identity have not been disclosed. Meanwhile, five individuals were injured and have been transported to local hospitals. The severity of their injuries remains unknown at this time.
Law enforcement believes they know the whereabouts of the person of interest, though Chief Jones did not confirm if this individual is an employee at the facility. Around 150 employees present during the incident were evacuated from the facility and have provided assistance to the investigating officers.
The City of New Albany, situated approximately 15 miles northeast of Columbus, continues to work with various law enforcement agencies to resolve the case.
