Walmart has unveiled a plan to construct a 10-pump gas station at its Palm Coast Supercenter location.

In a move to broaden its fuel business, Walmart is seeking approval to establish its first gas station in Flagler County. The proposal involves constructing a fuel center on the grounds of the Walmart Supercenter at 174 Cypress Point Parkway, Palm Coast. The comprehensive plan also includes a 1,621-square-foot convenience store adjacent to the pumps, effectively expanding Walmart’s presence and service offerings in the area.

Currently, the Walmart Supercenter in DeLand features a similar setup, indicating a strategic pattern in Walmart’s expansion plans. The submitted site plan details the project location on the northwest corner of the existing store’s lot, precisely at the intersection of Cypress Point Parkway and Cypress Edge Drive. This development will cover 26,000 square feet, slightly reducing the parking space available on site.

Bowman Consulting Group, headquartered in Melbourne, is identified as the commercial developer spearheading the project in collaboration with Walmart Stores East LP. The City of Palm Coast is currently reviewing the site plan, with approval and construction timelines yet to be determined. Local authorities’ assessment will crucially decide the project’s initiation and progress.

Walmart has positioned this venture within a broader context of fuel services, providing its Walmart+ members with a 10¢ per gallon discount at over 13,000 Walmart-affiliated gas stations across the country. The retailer’s reach extends to approximately 1,565 fuel centers located at various Walmart Supercenters and Neighborhood Market locations nationwide, spread over 26 states.

The proposed addition of a gas station at the Palm Coast Walmart Supercenter signifies another step in Walmart’s strategy to integrate fuel services with retail, enhancing customer convenience. As the project awaits city approval, its potential impact on local infrastructure and services remains to be seen.
