A small spider monkey dressed in a pink tutu made an unexpected escape from a home near Otto, Missouri, just before a severe winter storm hit the area.
The fugitive primate was observed at the intersection of two highways near Otto, a town just south of St. Louis. The sighting caused a stir given the unusual attire of the monkey, which had managed to open a door to get outside.
Law enforcement from the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office responded quickly to the situation. They described the incident as ‘bananas’ on their official Facebook page, underscoring the unusual nature of the event.
