In a post on his Truth Social platform, Trump stated unequivocally, “Please let this TRUTH serve to represent that if the hostages are not released prior to January 20, 2025, the date that I proudly assume Office as President of the United States, there will be ALL HELL TO PAY in the Middle East, and for those in charge who perpetrated these atrocities against Humanity.” He further added, “Those responsible will be hit harder than anybody has been hit in the long and storied History of the United States of America. RELEASE THE HOSTAGES NOW!”
This declaration has sparked questions about whether Trump plans to involve the U.S. military in Israel’s ongoing conflict with Hamas in Gaza. Currently, some allies have mentioned hopes for a ceasefire and a hostage release agreement before Trump’s return to office early next year, but no official strategy has been detailed.

While Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office withheld remarks, Israeli President Isaac Herzog expressed gratitude towards Trump through a post on the social media platform X, stating, “Thank you and bless you Mr. President-elect @realDonaldTrump. The conflict in Gaza began on October 7, 2023, when Hamas-led militants launched an attack on southern Israel, resulting in the deaths of approximately 1,200 individuals, primarily civilians, and capturing around 250 hostages. Currently, about 100 hostages remain in Gaza, with two-thirds believed to be alive.
The Israeli government recently confirmed the death of Omer Neutra, a dual U.S.-Israeli citizen whose body is reportedly held by Hamas.
