A surprising encounter unfolded on a Melbourne motorway when a driver discovered a deadly snake inside her vehicle.
While driving at 80km/h on the Monash freeway, the woman felt an unusual sensation at her foot. Upon glancing down, she was shocked to see a snake, identified as a tiger snake, which is known as one of the world’s most venomous reptiles, slithering inside the car.
Victoria Police were alerted when the woman, in a panic, attempted to flag down passing vehicles. Officers described her behavior as ‘hiss-terical’ due to the frightening ordeal she was enduring. Despite the chaos, she managed to fend off the snake and navigate through traffic to safely pull over and exit her vehicle.
Authorities conducted a welfare check, and although the woman was visibly shaken and in shock, she was transported to the hospital as a precautionary measure. Fortunately, she appeared unharmed.
Melbourne Snake Control was called to handle the situation, successfully capturing the snake. Tim Nanninga, from the snake control team, stated that the creature was released back into the wild, far from human residences.
The incident left passing motorists in disbelief, with some capturing the snake’s removal on video. This startling event underscores the unpredictable nature of encounters with wildlife in populated areas.
