In a concerning incident on SR 39 in Plant City, an impaired driver traveling in the wrong direction caused a crash, according to the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP).
The collision occurred on a Wednesday morning, when Flor Tulia Perez Roblero, aged 45, was driving a Dodge Grand Caravan southward in the northbound lane. Her vehicle collided with a Kia Sorento operated by a 68-year-old woman from Zephyrhills. The location of the incident was identified as just north of Knights Griffin Road, where SR 39 transitions into a divided highway.
The crash nearly resulted in a head-on collision, but luckily, both individuals involved were transported to local hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries. Upon investigation, authorities discovered that Perez Roblero did not possess a valid driver’s license.
A breathalyzer test was administered to Perez Roblero at the scene, revealing a blood alcohol concentration of 0.108. This level is above the legal limit, prompting her subsequent arrest. She was transported to the Hillsborough County Jail following the incident, as reported by the FHP.
The incident serves as a stark reminder of the dangers of impaired driving, highlighting the critical importance of adhering to traffic regulations for the safety of all road users.
