Construction Starts on New Lagoon in Manatee Community

Developers have commenced the construction of a groundbreaking 4-acre lagoon in the Seaire community of Parrish, Manatee County. This lagoon is set to redefine residential living in the area, offering a unique ‘lagoon lifestyle’.

On November 15, Metro Development Group, a Tampa-based company known for incorporating lagoons into their master-planned communities, initiated the groundbreaking ceremony for the lagoon. Vice President Lisa Gibbings highlighted that this is the company’s first venture into Manatee County. Gibbings mentioned, ‘Our lagoons have redefined what it means to live in a master-planned community across Florida.’

The lagoon, once completed, will be a central feature for the residents who will have the option of membership or paying a daily fee to access its amenities. These include a swim-up bar, TVs, and event spaces that can host a variety of activities almost daily. With an anticipated opening by the end of 2025, residents are temporarily granted discounted access to another lagoon managed by the company to enjoy similar experiences until Seaire’s lagoon is ready.

The larger Seaire development will eventually include 3,000 homes, with options ranging from townhouses to estate homes. As Julie Kremner of the Metro Development Group noted, the community caters to a diverse range of buyers—from first-time homeowners to retirees. Currently, the community has started welcoming its first residents, and many more are expected to join soon.

In addition to residential spaces, the development will feature green areas, trails, and connectivity options like a tunnel under Carter Road to facilitate access to the upcoming commercial amenities. Gibbings expressed excitement over the commercial prospects, stating they are committed to bringing top-tier options that will enhance the community’s vibrancy. Massimo Rastrelli of Casto, a partner in commercial development, noted plans for restaurants, a grocer, and health offices, although specific names have yet to be disclosed.

The introduction of Seaire’s lagoon represents a significant shift in residential living standards in Parrish, promising a blend of leisure and modern living. As construction progresses, both residents and businesses eagerly anticipate the unique opportunities this development will bring.
