David Grutman, the renowned Miami nightlife impresario, and Bad Bunny, the global music superstar, have teamed up to open a new restaurant in the Brickell neighborhood. The restaurant, enigmatically named Gekkō, opened its doors on August 12, 2022, and promises a unique dining experience.
Grutman is no stranger to the restaurant industry. He’s opened several successful restaurants in Miami, including the iconic LIV nightclub at the Fontainbleau Hotel and Story. For Bad Bunny, the new restaurant is his first foray into the hospitality industry.
No one can deny that when two superstars come together, the results can be magical. Whether they’re in the same industry or not, the combination of their talents is sure to produce something special. And Gekko is the best example of that.
Performing at Hard Rock Stadium on Friday (12th) and Saturday (13th) as part of his 2022 World’s Hottest Tour was just the beginning for Bad Bunny. On Friday night, he also opened his brand new Japanese Steakhouse with David Grutman. It was a historic moment for the musician that’s sure to be remembered for years to come.
The imposing Gekkō restaurant in Brickell seats 185 people and was designed by the renowned Rockwell Group of New York. The restaurant offers indoor and outdoor seating, as well as an intimate lounge area of the same name. The design is dark and luxurious, with velvet curtains and graphic wall coverings that create a dramatic feel.
Gekko Location
As founder of Groot Hospitality, Grutman is responsible for some of Miami’s most popular restaurants and nightspots, including Komodo, Strawberry Moon and The Key Club in Coconut Grove. In founding Gekko, Grutman wanted to combine the best elements of a steakhouse with those of a lounge to provide guests with the ultimate dining and nightlife experience.
Prepare to be impressed by the high-quality Wagyu beef, delicious sushi rolls and other staples of Japanese cuisine such as Japanese milk bread and “lava and ice” oyster from Kumamoto. Other appetizers include lobster dumplings and a wedge salad with yuzu buttermilk ranch dressing – all of which will tempt your taste buds!
The main attraction in the entrees is the meat, with a tomahawk steak, filet mignon from Kagawa, Japan, Wagyu skirt steak and a bone-in ribeye. But there’s also seafood like creamy and spicy lobster, as well as sushi, sashami and raw plates like Hokkaido scallops and the 24K Otoro, fatty tuna coated in edible gold. All these delicious options will make your mouth water!
All in all, Gekko Japanese Steakhouse is a great place to eat and undoubtedly an excellent destination for the best things to do in Miami. The food is delicious, the service is wonderful and the atmosphere is perfect. The price you pay for an exquisite dinner with fine drinks is definitely worth it.
And don’t forget the unparalleled experience of enjoying an evening in a place that belongs to the stars. Who knows, maybe one day you’ll meet Bad Bunny himself in this very special restaurant.
