Superblue Miami, a vast 50,000-square-foot venue located in Miami’s Allapattah neighborhood, has launched an impressive debut program titled ‘Every Wall Is a Door.’ This innovative exhibition features immersive installations from acclaimed artists such as Es Devlin, Japanese art collective teamLab, and American artist James Turrell, offering visitors a unique sensory experience.
Situated in a burgeoning cultural hub, Superblue Miami dedicates itself to creating interactive and experiential art forms. The venue’s inaugural exhibit, ‘Every Wall Is a Door,’ showcases a variety of thought-provoking installations, each designed to engage visitors on multiple sensory levels. Among these creations is Es Devlin’s ‘Forest of Us,’ which invites participants into a mirrored labyrinth that explores the interconnectedness of human and botanical life.
Meanwhile, teamLab presents a series of digital installations, including ‘Universe of Water Particles, Transcending Boundaries’ and ‘Flowers and People, Cannot be Controlled but Live Together – Transcending Boundaries, A Whole Year per Hour.’ These works utilize digital technology to blur the lines between art and reality, encouraging a deeper contemplation of life’s cyclical nature.
James Turrell contributes with ‘AKHU,’ an extrasensory light-based piece that transforms spatial perception, allowing viewers to become enveloped in light and color. Alongside these, Amsterdam-based studio DRIFT offers ‘Meadow,’ a kinetic piece housed in Superblue’s main lobby, which features mechanical flowers that respond to the presence of visitors.
Additionally, ‘Lightfall’ by Studio Lemercier joins the roster, diving into themes of human perception and our relationship with nature through an intricately choreographed blend of light, projections, and mathematics, accentuated by ambient music from Mexican artist Murcof. This latest feature enriches the ongoing exhibition, aligning with Superblue’s mission to push the boundaries of artistic expression and viewer interaction.
Superblue Miami succeeds in crafting a space where art converges with the senses, allowing attendees to experience the fusion of innovative technology and human expression. The venue’s diverse range of installations ensures that there is always something new to discover, promising a memorable experience for all visitors.
