The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) are opening Disaster Recovery Centers in Ripley, Wayne, and Carter counties to provide in-person assistance to Missouri residents impacted by severe storms, tornadoes, and flooding that occurred from March 30 to April 8.
Center Locations and Hours
The centers offer residents help with disaster aid applications, document uploads, and information on available resources. The locations and operating hours are as follows:
In Ripley County, the center is at the Ripley County Caring Community Partnership, 209 West Highway, Doniphan. It will be open from 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Nov. 13, and from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Nov. 14-15.
The Wayne County center is located at Tabernacle Baptist Church, 402 East Daniels Street, Piedmont. It will operate from 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Nov. 15, and from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Nov. 17-18.
In Carter County, the center will be at the Carter County Courthouse, 1122 Main Street, Van Buren. Hours are 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Nov. 17, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. from Nov. 18-20, and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Nov. 21.
Eligibility and Application Details
Residents in 20 Missouri counties, including Bollinger, Butler, and Cape Girardeau, may be eligible for aid if they sustained damage to their primary residence or personal property. Applicants should bring their Social Security number, insurance information, contact details, a list of damages, and banking information for direct deposit.
FEMA assistance can cover expenses not covered by insurance, such as basic home repairs, personal property losses, and disaster-related medical or childcare costs. The deadline to apply for assistance is December 22. Applications can also be submitted online at DisasterAssistance.gov or by calling 1-800-427-4626.
