Despite the high ticket prices for this opening game, contrasting group stage matches provide more affordable options, starting between $44 and $89. However, only the Bayern Munich vs. Auckland City FC match at Cincinnati’s TQL Stadium has sold out among the scheduled games.
This year, the tournament is a larger affair, featuring 32 teams globally for the first time, expanding from its previous seven-team format. FIFA President Gianni Infantino emphasizes club football’s significance, viewing this tournament as a celebration of global fan culture and passion.
The draw for the group stage took place on December 5, producing notable pairings such as Paris Saint-Germain against Atlético Madrid in Group B and Juventus versus Manchester City within Group G. The matches span across 12 venues in the United States, including prominent stadiums like Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta and Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia.
